As it is one of the most complex freshwater/saltwater ecosystems in the world, Corcovado is home to 500 species of trees, making up one quarter of the tree species in Costa Rica. There are 6,000 species of insects, 140 species of mammals, almost 400 species of birds, 116 species of amphibians and reptiles and 40 species of fish. Some of the most frequently viewed wildlife includes jaguars, four species of sea turtles, anteaters, 220 species of butterflies, sloths, crocodiles, poison-arrow frogs, several species of monkeys, and, with luck, maybe even a tapir.

Los Patos Sirena TrailAs it is one of the most complex freshwater/saltwater ecosystems in the world, Corcovado is home to 500 species of trees, making up one quarter of the tree species in Costa Rica. There are 6,000 species of insects, 140 species of mammals, almost 400 species of birds, 116 species of amphibians and reptiles and 40 species of fish. Some of the most frequently viewed wildlife includes jaguars, four species of sea turtles, anteaters, 220 species of butterflies, sloths, crocodiles, poison-arrow frogs, several species of monkeys, and, with luck, maybe even a tapir.
One of the falls is forty-five meters high in free fall and the other, twenty meters high with a tiered fall, forming at the bottom a 1,000 square meter and six meter deep pool. There are also other smaller natural pools where visitors can seize the opportunity and enjoy the waters with their families or friends.
Nauyaca Waterfalls is the ideal place for nature and adventure lovers, where tourists can walk, swim, climb, jump, take photographs and spend a marvelous day in the warm waters of Rio Barucito, enjoying one of the most beautiful places in Costa Rica’s South Pacific.

Marino Ballena is one of the newest national parks in Costa Rica. Established in 1990, the park contains the largest coral reef on the Pacific side of Central America. The park&s waters are also great vantage points for viewing the humpback whale as it migrates (Dec. to April) from as far away as Alaska and Hawaii down to Cano Island, just off of the Osa Peninsula.

The number one attraction in Chirripó national park is climbing Cerro Chirripó Grande, the highest peak in Costa Rica. The views are spectacular, on a clear day, you can see the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean sea simultaneously.

The two caves on the north end extend from the beach out to the ocean, a distance of about 50 meters. Pressure from the waves during certain tides can blow a large cloud of steam out onto the beach creating a "blowhole effect". The caves are very deep and are quite intriguing to venture through. This is a great little bay and is ideal for swimmers with it's fine sand and caverns carved into the cliffs. Parking is available for around ¢2000 colones per hour with a watchman monitoring the cars.

We release as many animals as we possibly can but provide lifetime care to those that cannot return to the wild. Some of these animals are confiscated from the illegal pet-trade and over-domesticated, or have long-tern physical or neurological injuries which prevent their release.

The office is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. Saturday hours are 9:30 a.m. until 12 p.m. It’s closed on Sundays
