Eila Hiltunen the artist who designed this monument was very modern at that time and this is the first abstract monument to honor a well known person. Before the statues used to be portraits of the person. This woke controversy and that is why you may also see the head of Sibelius next to the abstract monument so everyone got what they wanted. :)

This is a must place for a picnic or a sunset beer during summer. Also a very beautiful place to walk by the seashore and take nice pics of the setting sun.

This island is park meant for dogs. I love to go strolling here even though I don't have my own dog. But the island is beautiful and the place is calm and full of nature. Remember to ask the owners first if you can pet their dogs. :)

If the winter is very cold it is possible to go walking on the ice but I do not recommend this.

This Island is preserved iron times village. All the buildings are from that period of time. It is perfect place to take a look at the architecture of that time and explore a bit of hidden gem of Helsinki.

This is an old tram repair building but it has been turned into cinema and an art center. You can also have drinks, eat here or see some awesome gigs. It also has a nice gallery

This store is open 24h 7 days a week! So anytime you need something you have access to it just one block away from my home. :) Allthough by the finnish law it is only possible to buy alcoholic beverages from a store from 9AM to 9 PM. :)

Store just next to the apartment door. I run to this store often just with my flipflops if I have forgotten to buy something or if I need milk to my coffee. :) It is a bit more expensive than the 24/7 store one block away!

Pharmacy that is open 24/7. Always open and just across the street from the flat. Here you can get pain killers or vitamins or whatever your needs are. The staff is also very helpful.

Food Scene
My favorite cafe in Helsinki. In winter take a lot of clothes and grill some sausages by the fire outside. The finnish cinnamon buns are fresh and lovely with finnish filter coffee or hot chocolate. This lovely old red wooden cottage is a must see. It is the countryside in the heart of Helsinki! :) and it is usually open until 10 PM :)
