Here are some of our favorite places to eat in the neighborhood.
One of my favorite bakeries is on Lakeshore Avenue called Arizmendi Bakery. On Friday they have Sourdough Croissants. Everything is great there especially the pizza slices. It's an Oakland specialty.

Great pizza and Italian food. Incredible deep dish pizza. I recommend the mediterranean chicken deep dish. Pick it up or get it delivered.

This is a great neighborhood cafe. 2 minute walk from the front door of the apartment. Great coffee and pastries. Also great spot to hang out and sit outside. Always lots of locals here on wifi and chatting.

Great pizza and literally a 2 minute walk from the apartment. They also make these great sourdough rolls stuffed with mushrooms and onions or sausage and olives. So good. Definitely much try this place.

Essentials
Great place to get pre-made foods in the freezer section and otherwise. Very reasonably priced. I love the pre-made salad selection.

A local favorite, Whole Foods is a great location for fresh organic fruits and veggies. Also a great hot bar. They also have a great pizza special with 2 slices for $7. :)

If you are a runner or walker, the circling the lake is 3.5 miles. You will enjoy the beautiful view and peacefulness around the lake. On Saturday and Sunday many people picnic and barbeque. It's a hot spot of Oakland.
