A gem in this country but in our own backyard, they are an organic farm and sell their organic produce (as well as locally sourced cheeses, meats, staples and gourmet and gluten-free snacks) at their market. Their seasonal Café Loco at the farmstand, they state: is open for breakfast and lunch, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., daily, except for Sunday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Eat at their outside tables with a beautiful view of Harlow Farm. Their "farmstand" market, they state: is open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, May to December.

What can I say. The Putney Co-op has what you need and want, and we love them! But, if you just want to stock up on some healthy, high-protein snacks for your hike, then the Co-op is your place, too. The co-op also has a small, eat-in cafe.

One of our favorite spots for dinner with a panoramic view of the water. We also appreciate their vegan options despite being a seafood restaraunt! Marina Restaurant, a fresh food restaurant with an extensive menu of American cuisine, vegetarian & seafood. Enjoy waterfront dining on a bright, bi-level space with a deck & panoramic river views. In nearby Brattleboro - just 25-30min drive from the cottage.

Hikes and Natural Wonders
This hike and destination (the top of Mt. Wantastiquet overlooking the lively (by Vermont standards) town of Brattleboro, Vermont) is one of our utmost favorite hikes in the area. The vista is vast and grand. It is also suitable for all fitness levels and does not feature any rock scrambles. Although the park is technically in New Hampshire, it is literally a stone's through from Brattleboro, Vermont, where you can enjoy the wealth of restaurants, coffee, and shopping the town has to offer, before or after your hike.

Putney, Vermont with its Putney Mountain offers an array of hiking options. It can take several hikes to feel like you have even to begun to get enough of this precious area. After your hike, stock up on some healthy staples at the awesome Putney Food Co-op. Kombucha on tap.
Hamilton Falls at Jamaica State Park
Jamaica State Park is located on a bend of the West River about one-half mile from the center of the town of Jamaica on the Salmon Hole of the West River. Two and a half miles upstream via the West River Trail is the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Ball Mountain Dam Project. Hamilton Falls State Natural Area, which includes one of Vermont’s largest waterfalls, is a popular spot to hike. It can be reached via a 3-mile (one-way) hike from the campground. Please keep in mind that the State Natural Area is protected land – please stay on marked trails and leave only footprints.
Swimming at Hamilton Falls is VERY dangerous and NOT recommended. There are strong currents and slippery rocks. Please do not attempt to access the middle pool as there is no safe entry or exit. More than 12 people have died at this site as a result of injury from attempting access or exiting the upper and middle pools.
The West River is also a favorite spot for many fishermen. The combination of deep slow running water and shallow fast ripples makes for some fine fishing.
