No matter what sort of food you want, you will find it here on the Sunshine Coast. Here are some recommendations of cafés and restaurants that we have tried.
The Mooloolaba Esplanade has many cafés and restaurants that will suit every taste. A great place to have a meal or coffee overlooking the beach. You get there by walking straight down Brisbane Road.

The Mooloolaba Wharf has recently been renovated with a number of new restaurants and cafés. It is an easy walk from the unit. A great place to sit in the late afternoon sun enjoying a nice drink with friends.

Rice Boi is one of the most popular restaurants on The Wharf. Bookings are not taken so if you want to go there then arrive early. One suggestion is to take your own utensils, drink, etc and order takeaway. You can then eat it on the many public tables throughout The Wharf.

Another of the many restaurants on The Wharf. While “Flo’s” is an odd name for a fabulous French Crêperie, don’t be fooled. The crepes served here as as good as we have experienced in France. They have the usual sweet crepes for dessert (eg. Crepe Suzette, etc.) but also a huge variety of savoury crepes with a wide variety of toppings available. We think of them as “French Pizzas”!

This is a great restaurant, especially for lunch. The view over the Maroochydore River is special. Ask for a table along the front to get the best out of your stay. We often call in for a coffee or drink and sit under the Cotton Tree and watch the pelicans and the rest of the world go by. There is live music on Sunday afternoons.
This is a very eclectic café reminiscent of those in the inner suburbs of Melbourne. It is in the “backstreets” of Mooloolaba, but well worth trying to find.

Here are some places that you may enjoy. One of the best things about Mooloolaba is that it is in the middle of the Sunshine Coast. This means that it is not too far to get to Noosa to the north or Caloundra to the south. Access to the beautiful hinterland is also very easy.

This is a lovely area. Whilst it is only about 1.5km “as the crow flies”, the fact that it is across from the end of the Spit means that you need to drive about 4kms to get there. However, it is well worth the effort. Park your car near one on La Balsa Café then walk along the path and boardwalk towards the lighthouse with the coast on your right side. The views are amazing. From the lighthouse walk down along the fence towards the entrance to the river where you will see numerous boats plying into the boat harbour. Then walk back along the edge of the river back to One on La Balsa Café. A lovely walk that we always take our friends on. It is an easy walk of around 2km in length.

If you feel like a drive through beautiful scenery with attractive townships then the Sunshine Coast Hinterland is a great way to spend a day. Visit the beautiful towns of Maleny, Montville and Mapleton.

Enjoy the fabulous view from the top of Mt Coolum, just north of the Airport. It is a steep walk up but the track is very well constructed. It’s a great place to watch the sunset.

It is a fabulous coastal road with spectacular views of the coastline. Take time to stop at Coolum and Peregian Beach. There is music in the park near the Peregian Surf Club most Sunday afternoons during summer.

Beautiful Noosa Heads is only 40 minutes north. We suggest that to get there you follow David Lowe Way rather than use the Motorway. It is a fabulous coastal road with spectacular views of the coastline. Take time to stop at Coolum and Peregian Beach. There is music in the park near the Peregian Surf Club most Sunday afternoons during summer.
Yandina is a lovely little hinterland town with great cafés and art galleries. One of the best markets on the coast is held there on a Saturday morning.

If the like quaint old towns them you will really enjoy Palmwoods. It is only about 20 minutes away by car. Make sure you visit The Shed which is a fabulous café/ restaurant located in an old pineapple packing shed. Don’t forget to stroll around this lovely little town.

If you want to spend a peaceful couple of hours experiencing our beautiful bush land then this is the place to go. There are well laid-out paths an a really delightful sculpture garden. On weekdays there is a lovely café run by a not-for-profit group helping disabled people. You will love it.

51 Palm Creek RoadIf you want to spend a peaceful couple of hours experiencing our beautiful bush land then this is the place to go. There are well laid-out paths an a really delightful sculpture garden. On weekdays there is a lovely café run by a not-for-profit group helping disabled people. You will love it.
