The beautiful city of Fredrikstad is only a 45 mins drive to the north. With its nice river walk, restaurants, shops, fortress and old city, its well worth the trip:)

Halden is well known for its fortress (Fredriksten festning) built in the period 1640-45. Here the famous swedish king Carl XII was killed in 1718.
