California's first Capital. Not as touristy as Napa. Wonderful restaurants, wine tasting, the old mission and a fantastic town square. Great for picnics. If you have little ones, check out Train Town. My kids love it.

Public Park
Memorial Park is a large municipal park a short walk from our Airbnb. It has a very large playground with swings, slides and lots of things for the little ones to explore. It is also great for those with dogs. The large grass area is popular with dog owners and you are free to let your dog run without a leash. We take are kids and dog there several times per week.

Great little hike that starts just a few minute walk from the Airbnb. Has great views of town from the ridge. Long ago it was a dairy ranch and its dairy products were so good and rich that it was given the nickname "So Rich". It became part of the town open space district and is a much loved walking/hiking trail.
About a 30 minute round trip hike to the top of Red Hill. Trail head is located across the street from the Airbnb. Great views of our little town and surrounding hills on the way up. At the summit you can see San Francisco skyline to the south and look east to see the Bay and East Bay Hills. Great place to walk the dog off leash.

Our favorite beach. Has shallow beach and small waves which makes it perfect for families with little kids. Dogs are allowed on the beach. The only downside with this beach is that the parking lot is small so on busy holidays get there early. Highly recommend.

Wonderful state park with second growth redwoods. Great place for a picnic/BBQ and a casual stroll along the creek. On a hot day this is a good place to hike as it is mostly in the shade.

Easy hike with spectacular views. A must do.
Large area and so many things to do and see but a must see. Lighthouse is great, Drakes Beach, Limatour Beach, Tomales Point, Tule Elks, Elephant Seals.

Golden Gate Ferry is nice way to get into San Francisco
Larkspur Ferry Terminal is less than 10 minute drive from the Airbnb. Ferry will bring you to the San Francisco Ferry Building where you can spend the day being a tourist. Walk to the Exploratorium, Pier 39, Fisherman's Wharf, grab a Cable Car, walk to China Town. All walking distance from the SF Ferry Building.

Bring Bikes
Whether you are into mountain biking, road bikes or just want to cruise through the towns, San Anselmo and the surrounding area is great for bikes. Nice flat ride from the Airbnb to Fairfax is a great trip with little kids. Ride through downtown San Anselmo and Ross to connect to bike path that will take you to Larkspur Ferry Terminal.
