Icy air brushes your face, snow crunches under your feet, and the panorama almost takes your breath away: on one side the view of the Swiss Plateau to the Vosges, on the other the Aletsch glacier, lined with four-thousand-meter peaks. Anyone standing on the Jungfraujoch, 3,454 meters above sea level, feels at the first step: this is another world. One that you have to experience.

With its whitewashed church and traditional gabled houses, it is a pretty village, but Switzerland has plenty of those. The unique feature gives Lauterbrunnen two waterfalls. Clearly visible is the Staubbach waterfall, with a depth of almost 300 meters the highest free-falling waterfall in Switzerland. This natural spectacle already fascinated Goethe, who used the waterfall as inspiration for his poem Gesang der Geister über den Wassern. Visitors can also view the Staubbach Falls from behind via a path carved into the rock during the summer months, as well as enjoy the view of the valley. But there is another attraction, but this one is not directly visible from Lauterbrunnen. The Trümmelbach Falls. They are located inside the mountain. The Trümmelbach, which drains the glacier walls of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau mountains, has formed a gorge in the rock between Lauterbrunnen and Stechelberg. Over ten waterfalls, some with a drop height of 140 meters, the water masses plunge here between the rock flanks into the depths. A system of stairs and tunnels makes the Trümmelbach Falls accessible to visitors.

If the Bachalpsee was not far enough to hike you can walk up to the Faulhorn. It`s on the same walkway. Very special place with a 360 Panoramic view all over the Alps. And not so much tourism up there ;)

If you are looking for a special hiking destination, heidi recommends the Glecksteinhütte. This is a real secret spot of Grindelwald.
But beware it is a 4 hour hike which is only suitable for experienced hikers.
Once at the top you will be rewarded with an unforgettable panorama and delicious traditional food.

As an excursion destination for a day hike or as a starting point for various mountain tours, the Bäregg is a wonderful place to forget everyday life. From the sun terrace you have an exclusive view of the imposing mountain and glacier landscape.

Tobogganing fun for the whole family
The Grindelwald - Pfingstegg aerial cableway leads from the valley station (1028 m above sea level) to the private alp Pfingstegg (1391 m above sea level). There you will find the summer toboggan run Pfingstegg, with which you can particularly enjoy the view.
On a length of 736 m and a height difference of 58 m you can already reach a maximum tobogganing speed of 40 km/h. An adrenaline-filled experience for young and old.
