Depart to the picturesque village of Archanes at the foot of Mountain Giouhtas. We will hike and see flowers on the path towards the summit of Giouhtas. On Mount Giouhtas - highest peak 811 m. - scientific research has registered 360 plant species, eighteen of which are native (endemic) to Crete or Greece (Walking time 1½ hour).
After a break, we will descend the mountain by following the comfortable dirt road, stopping on route to see the flowers. (Walking time 1 hour)

Strouboulas is the first peak that one can see from Heraklion when looking to the west.The height of the tops is 798 meters above sea level,a small altitude compared to the surrounding mountains and the range of Psiloritis it actually belongs.What makes Strouboulas special and beloved by the locals is its shape reminiscent of the pyramid or volcano when looking from Heraklion.Climb to the peak requires hiking uphill about 45 minutes.The most common way of ascent is the path from the beautiful plateau of Strouboulas,where a small red lake is formed in winter.The path to the summit starts next to the church of Saint George,initially through a dirt road and then on a steep but well marked trail

The Bay of Karteros is located at the exit of the homonym Gorge Karteros, 7km east of Heraklion and extends to the east for 3.5km. It is named after the Byzantine General, Krateros, who in 824AC landed on the beach with his ships in order to liberate Crete from the Saracens, but was defeated. On the long bay, there are two settlements, Karteros and Amnissos. The area has developed so much that the two villages are now merged. The main reason for the rapid development of the area is the small distance from Heraklion and the beautiful beachfront with the fine golden sand.
