This long beach is ideal for an early morning or evening stroll. Safe swimming for children. Postcard perfect beach lined with Pohutakawa trees that blossom with red flowers every December. Plenty of fodder for your Instagram account at this picturesque location!

Known by locals as New Zealand's Fiji due to its fine white sand beach & crystal clear water. It is off the beaten track so this beach will never be overrun with tourists. The adjacent harbour is a renown fishing & diving location. Take care if venturing off-shore though - I know someone who took a shark bite while diving off a boat in the deep water of the bay.

Good coffee and even better views over Mangonui harbour. I recommend the toasted sandwiches too. Also has a licensed bar for an afternoon wine in the sun. Outdoor seating with umbrellas for shade from the heat. Watch the seagulls don't steal your breakfast though!
