Île D'ambre also known as D'ambre island, is one of the largest islets in Mauritius with over three miles of solitude on trails meandering through forests, lakes, ruins and to the sea. The island has no permanent resident, but gets a few visitors each day. There are ruins of former habitation in the center of the island along the main trail. Scattered about the island are depressions filled with seepage from the sea, although one has quite a bit of depth and is teeming with fish.
