ManagementCommunity Weather Shelter Community Weather Shelter Oak Grove R-VI Schools, Performing Arts Center -- Community Weather Shelter The Oak Grove R-VI School District operates the Oak Grove High School Performing Arts Center as a severe weather shelter for their students and staff during school hours and events. During times when the school district is not in session, the shelter may be opened by volunteers from Oak Grove-Sni Valley Emergency Management. Opening of the shelter will be announced on Nixle messaging system. The shelter status message can also be checked at Nixle.com at the "Enter your zip code to see what is happening where you live." If neither of these systems is available to you, you may call 816-834-1625 to check the status of the shelter and whether it is safe enough for you to travel there. Please do not wait until a "Storm Warning" has been issued to consider going to the shelter. Time is of the essence. The same sources will be used to communicate when the shelter is closed. The shelter is located at the southwest corner of the Oak Grove High School, 605 SE 12th Street. Enter the south door facing the sports stadium parking lot.
