The Monumento a los Héroes de la Restauración is a monument in the city of Santiago de los Caballeros in the Dominican Republic. It’s the highest building in Santiago, and a major tourist attraction for the area. Locals go to walk around, exercise (in the mornings or late afternoon), at night there are restaurants/bars. If you’re traveling with your family, just at the bottom of the monument, you can take a ride around the city/monument on horses. Children really enjoy the experience riding on the horse carriages sightseeing. Best time for that is at night.

They even have a love lock wall - just like the one in Paris. Beautiful experience. Just outside the restaurant a collection of cars from 1950’s/1960’s that belonged to the family of dictator Rafael Leonidas Trujillo - the leader and former president of the Dominican Republic.

Uber is a very convenient way to get around Santiago
Keep in mind that Uber might work a little different in other countries, in the Dominican Republic Uber can be paid cash (currency must be Dominican Peso) or paid through debit/credit card via Uber app!
