“Monumento a los Héroes de la Restauración” is a tribute to those who fought for the independence of the Dominican Republic. This monument, located on Daniel Espinal Street, was designed by the architect Henry Gazón and is a 74-meter-high building, partially covered in marble, surrounded by beautiful gardens; outside it has several statues, and, standing on its top, the statue called ¨El Ángel de la Paz¨ (The Angel of Peace). Its interior consists of a museum about the Heroes of the Restauration, a staircase of 365 steps that leads to the top of the monument, upstairs, it has murals by the Spanish artist Vela Zenetti, a patriotic library and a terrace from where you can see all the city. This monument is open from Tuesday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. admission prices can vary between $ 1 to $ 2 per visitor, with free admission for students.

Our visitors obtained in less than an hour a complete view of the intricate process of making a cigar and about the history of La Aurora, the original cigar factory in Dominican Republic, opened in 1903.
Centro Leon is a nonprofit institution that belongs to the Eduardo León Jimenes Foundation, which opened its doors in 2003. It's a cultural center that houses four exhibition rooms, a media library, an auditorium, multipurpose lounges, a Caribbean menu cafeteria sand a shop where you can buy selected products, related to and prepared by national art crafters and from the Great Caribbean. In the gardens there's a collection of sculptures, native and endemic plants, with birds and reptiles that make an aviary their home.
