Temple square is a famous landmark of the state and SLC. They are doing some repairs currently, but it is still fun to walk around temple square and enjoy the landscaping. There are also tours and museums available. You can easily walk from here to City Creek mall for shopping and food.

The Bonneville salt flats are a great place to take pictures of a vast expanse, drive fast, and explore. They are a little less than two hours drive from Salt Lake City. It's near Wendover, on the Utah-Nevada border. There is no speed limit on the salt flats so you can drive as fast as you'd like. Many land speed records have been broken here. Check the weather because there can be water on the flats if there is a lot of rain.

Riding the electric rental scooters in downtown and exploring the city. My wife and I enjoy looking at the old houses around the capital building and there are some walks around there as well
