Here is a list of some of my favourite days out / entertainment. There are options here which will appeal to everyone regardless of age or the weather.
St Michael's Mount is perhaps, the most famous of Cornwall's landmarks, has a fascinating history, is steeped in both legend and folklore, has stunning panoramic views across Mounts Bay to Lands End and The Lizard, boasts a picturesque harbour and has a spectacular castle, complete with majestic gardens.

St Ives, is only a 30 min drive from Mousehole. However, we normally drive to St Erth - park at the station and catch the train into St Ives - very quick, cheap and the train journey is quite beautiful along the coast. You can also get off at Carbis Bay (lovely beach) and walk along the coast into St Ives.
It is one of Cornwall’s top destinations with:
* Numerous galleries and exhibitions
* Attracts famous artists all year round
* Four fabulous beaches with the UKs mildest climate: Porthmeor, Porthgwidden, Harbour beach, Porthminster
* Fantastic surf at Porthmeor beach
* Working harbour
* Plenty of pavement cafes, ancient pubs and top notch eateries with mouth watering menus. I can recommend 'the crab shack', 'The Searoom by St Ives Liquor Co' (excellent tapas), 'St Ives bakery' (for a snack).

The most southerly point on the UK's mainland. The Lizard is one of the best places in Cornwall for seeing some wildlife, particularly marine life. Off the shore of the Point, you might catch seals, dolphins and even the odd whale
The views are stunning and there are interesting cliff top walks in both directions. The visitor centre at the lighthouse is well worth a visit.

Lizard
The most southerly point on the UK's mainland. The Lizard is one of the best places in Cornwall for seeing some wildlife, particularly marine life. Off the shore of the Point, you might catch seals, dolphins and even the odd whale
The views are stunning and there are interesting cliff top walks in both directions. The visitor centre at the lighthouse is well worth a visit.

Beside their cinema, they have a modern spacious Eathouse restaurant and bar that has made their venue a much-needed cultural destination space for the whole family.

Newlyn Filmhouse
23-31 The CoombeOpened in March 2016, Newlyn Filmhouse is 2 Screen independent cinema, converted from a 1876 built granite old Fish Cellar & Smokery.

Falmouth is a fantastic town to explore and visit for the day. The town has a ton of interesting independent shops and restaurants

Jubilee Pool is the largest and most celebrated sea water pool in the UK. Originally opened in 1935, Jubilee Pool is one of only a handful of surviving Lidos in the UK, and the first to have a geothermally heated pool. We love going for a swim in the winter and the coffee and food in the coffee is truly excellent. It is advisable to book in advance

Battery RoadJubilee Pool is the largest and most celebrated sea water pool in the UK. Originally opened in 1935, Jubilee Pool is one of only a handful of surviving Lidos in the UK, and the first to have a geothermally heated pool. Neighbourhoods
You will be based here and there are very few places that can be found in the United Kingdom that have retained their original character and charm in the way that the tiny fishing village of Mousehole has.
Mousehole (pronounced "Mowzel") is one of Cornwall's most picturesque hamlets; a stunning collection of yellow-lichened houses, built from the local finely grained Lamorna granite, huddled together around the inner edge of the harbour - protected from the force of the sea coming across Mounts Bay by two sturdy breakwaters.
Dylan Thomas (1930) described Mousehole as ' the loveliest village in England', a title that remains true to the present day.

Generally speaking, the food / produce in South West Cornwall is excellent. Here are some of our favourite places to eat:
My favourite restaurant in Mousehole. 2 Fore street is only a 2 mins walk from the Loft House and serves excellent bistro food, with a great and varied menu (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner). The seafood dishes are exceptional, however there are dishes on the menu to please non seafood fans and children / the whole family. Tables are available inside and in their rather lovely garden. It is advisable to prebook.

The Old coastguard has an absolutely beautiful garden overlooking the sea. It is possibly one of the nicest restaurant / pub gardens in the UK. The food is very good but comes at a price. You will need to book for food but can walk in for a drink.

Beaches
You are spoilt for choice regarding the number of beautiful beaches to choose from in this part of the world. Here is a selection of my favourites:
Kynance Cove is rightly revered as a Cornish gem. Its white sands, turquoise water and serpentine rocks combine to make it one of the most photographed, filmed and painted beaches in Cornwall.
The cove regularly features on lists of the most beautiful beaches in the world, and on a sunny day at low tide you’ll see why it deserves this accolade.
There is a small shop close to the beach which sells pasties, sandwich's and drinks.

If there was an 'A List' of Cornish beaches then Porthcurno would be on there without question. In terms of raw beauty few beaches anywhere can match it; near white sand, crystal clear turquoise water and an amphitheatre of rugged granite cliffs as a backdrop.
Not only does the sand here look special - it is special. Made up of seashells pounded to smithereens by the sea over millions of years it is quite unique and is partly responsible for the beautiful colour of the sea here.
There are steep steps leading up to the Minack theatre for the brave amongst you.
Sennen beach is situated just around the corner from Land's End, the most westerly point in mainland Britain. Whilst the village sits in the lee of the mighty Pedn-men-du headland the large crescent of sandy beach faces the full force of the Atlantic Ocean making it a popular spot for surfers. It is also home to the world famous 'Sennen Surfing Centre' should you wish to have lessons - lessons are available for all ages. A well equipped lifeguard service operates in the summer when it is generally safe to swim.
The beach at Sennen Cove is called Whitesands Bay and it almost lives up to this name with almost a mile of fine sand stretching around to neighbouring Gwenver beach. Near the middle of the beach a shallow valley with a small stream runs down to the sea. The sand dunes here offer shelter and it is generally a little quieter on the far side of the stream.
Access to the beach is easy from the large car park and there are toilets here. The village centre is located just a minute or two away with a couple of shops, cafes and pub. There's also a fairly upmarket restaurant right on the beach.

Public Transport
There is a very good local bus, the M6 if you are arriving by train into Penzance - this runs every 20 minutes. It is also great for popping into Newlyn/Penzance etc from Mousehole, if you do not want to worry about parking.

Penzance:
There are three huge supermarkets in Penzance - Sainsbury's, Tesco's, Morrisons - you pass these as you drive into Penzance. Sainsburys will deliver an online shop to the Loft House if you book ahead.
Newlyn:
Has a Lidl, The CoOp + deli, cheese and green grocer.
Plenty of fresh fish shops situated opposite the harbour.
