Bit of a drive (30min) but beautiful area with waterfalls, crystal clear rivers, and trails. trail is quite serious so make sure you're prepared, but you can go see one of the waterfalls casually without much prep.

Verga campsite---If you have kids this is a nice riverfront campsite which you can do day visits to swim in the river. They do some kid friendly activities there as well.

Yatsugatake Farm run by the local Agriculture university. Not much to do there but a nice place to chill and stroll around some animals and get local produce. Great views all around.

Good pizza and pasta. Nice atmosphere with view of the forest.
Good fish dishes---good for lunch and dinner but its pretty busy so try to avoid the crowd by going early/late.

Local fruits and veggies---this is the place. Its a shack--but they have some awesome fruits from local farms. They have some expensive ones for gifting but if you're buying for yourselves, get the cheaper fruit! Its just as good.
