Outdoor Spaces & Walking
This is my favorite walk! From my house, cross Broadway at Burr road and wander on to the campus of University of the Incarnate Word. Stay to the right to walk by the chapel and then Brackenridge House. You will see a red foot bridge that will take you to the back part of the campus and athletic facilities. Keep following the path to the right and you will find the Headwaters Sanctuary walking trails. Shaded and peaceful with great bird watching. The main loop is just under half a mile, but follow the side trails to get in a great 3+ mile walk by the time you head back home. Enjoy!

Walk down King William St. to see the beautiful homes and old-growth trees, then drop down to the riverwalk at Beauregard & Washington St. Checkout the view at night from the Arsenal St Bridge. This is actually a City park, believe it or not!! Urban hiking - real hiking. Hills and challenging single-track. And famous for birdwatching. Bring water and enjoy a beautiful easy walk, or a nice long technical hike.

Practical Stuff
I know Central Market is great and it is walking distance from my house... but this is "MY HEB" (That is their marketing tagline). Also, download the "HEB Go" app - you can scan your own groceries as you shop and checkout at the kiosk. Great for pop-ins. This HEB is very close to the Quarry and Quarry Village where you'll also find a Trader Joe's. If you don't have a car, the #9 bus goes to the HEB or it's an easy Uber of Lyft ride.

Surprisingly delicious and very family-friendly spot with large outdoor seating area. Bands are loud but fun. Great hangout.

Beautiful outdoor dining in the garden with an interesting Mediterranean-style menu. Absolutely start with the Arancini (you'll order a second). Who doesn't love a few butterflies as dinner companions.
