Saas Fee is approximately 45 min to an hour away from Graechen and is one of Switzerland's biggest (150km of slopes in Saas Valley) and highest (up to 3.600 m) ski resorts. Saas Fee offers a large variety of slopes, with impressive views of the valley and the gletscher.
Saas Grund - which is before Saas Fee and also part of the Saas Valley - is a small but also very nice ski resort which offers very wide pistes. A great place to practice your carving!
The Saas Valley is slightly less popular than Zermatt with tourists. This is likely because it is generally less sunny during the winter. When it comes to pure skiing or snowboarding experience, Saas Fee has as much (if not more) to offer than Zermatt, and it is easier to reach by car than Zermatt.

Zermatt is approximately an hour away from Graechen. As this is a car-free resort you will need to take the train either from St. Niklaus or Taesch.
Zermatt is a beautiful resort offering a large number of slopes, including some easier, blue slopes. It provides beautiful views of the Matterhorn, and it is even possible to ski to Italy (although this does require a more expensive ski pass). Matterhorn is a more exclusive and upscale resort.

The biggest supermarket in Graechen is the Coop. It has both a (paid) parking attached to the building, as well as outside parking for free (up to 60 min) for customers.
Note that during peak season winter, it can sometimes be quite busy from 4 PM onwards.

In St Niklaus (the valley village) you can find the Migros. This supermarkte is especially useful on the way to Graechen (e.g. driving there on arrival, or when returning from Saas Fee or Zermatt). Similar in size to the Coop.

Nice hotel restaurant located on a lake. Can (sometimes) also be reached from the ski slope, by taking a small side-road from the slope down to the village (although may be tricky to find). Especially nice for the location and the views.
