Arts & Culture
Most days the Museum is quiet. The Lighthouse was moved to this point for viewing. It is a Screw Pile lighthouse and very rare. After viewing the museum you can find lots of food, drink, and fun as you drive Left on Solomon's Island Road. Take another Left on Charles Street and make your way around the tip of the Island for a great view of the mouth of the Patuxent River and the Chesapeake Bay.

Drum Point Lighthouse
14150 Solomons Island Rd SMost days the Museum is quiet. The Lighthouse was moved to this point for viewing. It is a Screw Pile lighthouse and very rare. After viewing the museum you can find lots of food, drink, and fun as you drive Left on Solomon's Island Road. Take another Left on Charles Street and make your way around the tip of the Island for a great view of the mouth of the Patuxent River and the Chesapeake Bay.
Google them! They have events, including childrens' and Concerts for adults. The museum shares a lot of local knowledge. It makes a nice outing.

Most of the local shops participate and offer discounts and specials of which are fun to partake. Restaurants, Bars, Health food Stores, and Gift Stores. There is a WWI memorial in the center of the square memorializing 27 local war heroes.

There is another lighthouse to view here. It is one of the oldest in the USA. It is believed to be haunted and offers limited tours to people interested in seeing a ghost. There is also a nice beach with pebbly sand. There is camping, but bring your bug spray. There are trails for walking which are also haunted. The worst hospital in history was in use during the War Between the States. Thousands of Southerners suffered and died here from neglect. Folklore tells that frequently while walking these trails, Northerners may still hear a whisper telling them to leave! Southerners hear whispers too, but much kinder. They usually hear, "You're all right" and "You can stay".

Now it is a peaceful as a daisy petal swaying in the warm breeze. Change is sometimes a good thing!

There are two stores located here. They sell wonderful local crafts and gifts. There are a lot of Maryland and Chesapeake, Bay oriented items. The staff is very gracious and will help you find the perfect item.

Antiques that are most interesting!!! Gifts of handmade items, including folk crafts. You could spend a couple hours here to see everything. It is a well set up Antique store and the prices are reasonable. I believe the building used to be an old mill and it is situated just next to a lovely Catholic Church.
