Yummy yummy yummy food from a couple who used to have a high end restaurant in the neighborhood called Hatfields. Scrumptious baked goods as well as some healthier options. I particularly like the breakfast tartine with hummos, a farmers' market tomato, pesto and a fried egg.

A beautiful outside terrace restaurant at the Sunset Marquis Hotel. The food and service is quite good, and a little pricey but it's a special place. This is the hotel where all the musicians come to stay so there's memorabilia around and you have a very good chance of seeing some celebrity. It's also great to just get a drink at the bar and enjoy the garden next to the restaurant and people watch.

Consistently good high end Mexican food but not too pricey. The atmosphere is fun and lively and it's right next to the Farmers Market in the event you're in that area. They have a great happy hour and terrific margaritas. It's always busy but you can just come in and sit at the bar and it's usually not that long a wait. I'm partial to the rajas, cucumber escabeche and the cucumber salad, but everything there is pretty good.

Yes, it's a chain, but it's good pizza and some very good salads and other small plates. Order at the counter and they bring it to you. Great beer and wine by the glass, they also have a fuzzball table and it's a good place to watch a game. Very relaxed atmosphere.
Delicious food, amazing service and a beautiful atmosphere. It's a little upscale and new and trendy so it may be hard to get a table. I believe you can also sit at the bar.

I hate to let you in on the secret, but it seems that nobody in LA goes to Franklin Canyon for a hike or a walk. It's very serene, and even in the summer, there's shade if you walk on the road (on which there are barely any cars). There are miles and miles of trails and you can even walk all the way over (past Tree People) to the valley.
It's also a nice place just to sit on the lawn on the bottom and bring a picnic.

It's very serene, and even in the summer, there's shade if you walk on the road (on which there are barely any cars). There are miles and miles of trails and you can even walk all the way over (past Tree People) to the valley.
It's also a nice place just to sit on the lawn on the bottom and bring a picnic.
It's a beautiful hiking trail that meanders through tree-covered areas up to a breathtaking view of the coastline. And it's good for people watching too.

LACMA has some great collections and you can walk from here. Also, the grounds are very pretty and it's adjacent to the LaBrea Tar Pits if you want to check that out too. On Friday nights in the summer, there's a free jazz and the museum is open at night and is free. Either bring a picnic or see if you can sit at the bar at the Ray and Stark Bar (or make a reservation for dinner and sit outside and listen to the jazz). Ray and Stark Bar has very very good food for a museum restaurant.

Not sure which category this belongs in, but Float Lab provides a very cool "sensory deprivation tank" experience. Float in body temperature buoyant water for two hours and the time just flies. It's been described as a meditation like experience. It's quite an experience for the $40 session.
