Whole Foods is a great (expensive) organics store, with a lot of pre-made food as well. It has a rooftop restaurant and you can shop in the store and bring your food up to the top. Easy to reach on the bus, it grows a lot of its own vegetables.

Red Hook is a great place to explore on an afternoon. Bars, restaurants, there's Fairway and the pier with views of the Statue of Liberty. Sunny's Bar is there for music at night, and IKEA if you must.
