Food scene

Good, inexpensive food. Wide variety, including great sushi (but don't expect seafood) It is a place the locals meet for a meal. Could be very busy and rowdy on Friday and Saturday nights at month end, as it is a local favourite. We suggest guests go out for a meal before the crowds, around 3-5pm.

여행 팁

경비 절약 방법

Not the place for a wild party

Wellington is a conservative farming village. Although we have a good selection of restaurants, a couple of bars, tastings and lots of adventure, it is not the place for a wild party. Travellers come to Wellington for peace and quiet, to rest and enjoy the beautiful views, long hot summer days and cosy fireplace winter days, wine and fellowship. Here most folks attend church on Sundays, so events will rarely be allowed to continue after midnight. We love greeting each other with a friendly wave and you can always ask for advice.
교통편

Your own vehicle is advised

Uber and taxi's are not readily available and may be unreiaible. We have good shuttle services, but book in advance. Restaurants are mostly out of town and you will need a car. Always ensure you have a dedicated driver, as South africa now has a zero tolerance for drunken driving. Never accept a "cash fine" there is NO SUCH THING.
관습과 문화

Mostly Christian society, where Sunday is a day of rest

As this is a small village where most people go to church on Sundays and then spend the day quietly at home with family, virtually no wineries are open on Sunday, Christmas, Easter Friday, 26/12 and 02/01. It is wise to either book meals in advance or bring heat & eat meals. Staff do not care to work on these days, which makes it rather difficult. As Wellington is a religious community, there are no dance halls or “rave” venues. Nudity and noise is frowned upon.

Farmers Market every 1st Saturday of the month

Windmeul market is fun and festive with good local food, wines for tasting and purchase. There is usually live music. Locals love spending a morning there chatting, sipping wine and eating.
