The weather in Colorado is unpredictable year round. We can have 80 degrees one day and 6” of snow the next (this happened in June 2022). We recommend you bring plenty of layers (sweats, pants, sox, long and short sleeve shirts, and always bring a jacket), warm, dry walking or hiking shoes/boots, hats (for sun and cold). For summer ( May to Sept.), remember you will be at 8000 ft elevation, where the sun can be intense even if the temperature is low. We recommend bringing hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen . For winter (Oct. to March) we recommend boots, hats, gloves, and winter jackets.

We are 65 miles Southwest of Denver International Airport, off Hwy 285. Our cabins are in a rural area with the last mile in being on a one-lane dirt easement road over private properties, through a forest. The road can be bumpy and we recommend a higher clearance AWD or 4WD vehicle, year round. We require an AWD or 4WD from October to March. If it snows and you do not have an adequate vehicle, you will not make it into or out of the cabins and it will be at your own risk and solution. Big Red Towing has previously been used by guests who got stuck with inadequate vehicles.

There is NO FOOD DELIVERY in the area but everyone offers TAKE-OUT. So, plan accordingly as the closest grocery stores are 11 Miles away in Conifer Co. (Safeway, Natural Grocers, and King Soopers). The closest local resources are 4 miles away, in Pine (off HWY 285 right by the 1 stoplight in town). There is a convenience store: The Pine Country Store. 1 local coffee shop: The Coffee Bean & Bakery. 3 restaurants: Golden Pine Chinese, Cruz-In Drive Thru, Crossroads Pizza & Wings. There is also an Ace Hardware and a Post Office.
