You can't go wrong with this iconic restaurant which has operated since I was a child. Next to Mount Pisgah, so you may want to plan a hike or drive on the parkway. GREAT homemade food with spectacular views! And at a reasonable price. Don't worry if there's a wait. It goes quickly and you can buy a bottle of wine or beer and sit on the rockers while soaking up the scenery! Sadly, it closes every year the last day of October. DON'T miss this place if you get the chance!

This was the home of poet/author, Carl Sandburg and is in a beautiful setting with great hiking trails. Make sure you stop by the barns to pet the baby goats. Mrs. Sandburg was an award winning goat breeder and the lineage of these goats continues . This is not far from our place and usually a great stop on the way in or out. The only fee if for a tour of the home, but you can hike or tour the grounds and barns without charge.

This was the home of poet/author, Carl Sandburg and is in a beautiful setting with great hiking trails. Make sure you stop by the barns to pet the baby goats. Mrs. Sandburg was an award winning goat breeder and the lineage of these goats continues . This is not far from our place and usually a great stop on the way in or out. The only fee if for a tour of the home, but you can hike or tour the grounds and barns without charge.

And if you live nearby the discounted yearly pass may be worth buying on the day of ticket purchase.
