In 1984, Congress passed the Wyoming Wilderness Act, which designated the Cloud Peak Wilderness in the Bighorn National Forest. Long recognized as having some of the most majestic alpine scenery in America, this region was managed as the Cloud Peak Primitive Area as far back as 1932. For 27 miles along the spine of the Bighorn Mountain Range, the 189,039-acre Cloud Peak Wilderness preserves many sharp summits and towering sheer rock faces standing above glacier-carved, U-shaped valleys.
Named for the tallest mountain in the Bighorn National Forest – Cloud Peak at 13,167 feet – the area is blanketed in snow for a large part of the year. Most of the higher ground doesn’t show bare ground until July. On the east side of Cloud Peak itself, a deeply inset cirque holds the last remaining glacier in this range.

It is definitely worth the side trip. We drove from Sheridan WY to Shell Falls. The vistas on the Big Horn Scenic Highway were spectacular.

A great place for families-- from having birthday parties in the shelter and playing, to swimming and visiting ice cream stand, this place is fantastic. On the walking path in between downtown and the Kendrick Mansion/Trail End State Historic Site, and on the banks of Goose Creek.

Built in 1879 by the Rock Creek Stage Line, the Blacksmith Shop is now home to the Bozeman Trail Museum. The Museum now houses Indian artifacts, dentistry tools, photos of the area, pioneer clothing, books, blacksmith tools, and many other artifacts from pioneer families.

It has great acoustics, so it's an excellent place to appreciate everything from the amazing local talent to the excellent road shows put on throughout the year.
Movies are current, relatively inexpensive, and sound levels are pretty well modulated. The kids popcorn, drink, & candy box is the best refreshment deal.
