Modern European restaurant close to the apartment, just about 10 mins by walk. Quite nice to walk around in the neighborhood, it offers outdoor seating as well. I personally prefer going there in the evenings when the weather is nice.

Don't miss stopping by this place in NYC for a quick crepe. Take the Crepe and sit by Washington Square Park (there are some tables in the Park you could use) which is a block away and have a relaxed dessert time.
Washington Square Park is very lively with some music or bubble performances going on and an active water fountain in the summers. It's great for both day and night times. Creperie is open till late (4am), it is cash only.

60 University PlIf you're an ice cream/gelato lover, this is a must go place. Check this out while you're in the lower Manhattan area. It is close to Washington Square Park. It has beautifully arranged gelato customized on cone in the form of flower petals with a macaroon topping. Checkout on yelp/google for pictures :)
