Definitely my favorite restaurant if you do not mind leaving the woods and travelling south to the big city of Utica. Great atmosphere, and incredible food and service. Winner of numerous awards. While you are there, if Utica Coffee, next door, is open, you may want to pick up the best coffee in the Utica area.

Although it sounds like a local pub, Steak 'n Brew, located at the base of Snow Ridge ski resort in the Tugg Hill region, has a nice atmosphere, and the food is prepared by the owner/chef, who takes pride in his meals and service. Several of the steaks and a few of the deserts can be prepared table side for a unique experience.

Although it sounds like a local pub, Steak 'n Brew, located at the base of Snow Ridge ski resort in the Tugg Hill region, has a nice atmosphere, and the food is prepared by the owner/chef, who takes pride in his meals and service. Walt’s Diner is located about 35 minutes north on Route 28 in Old Forge. It has been a popular destination for locals and tourist in the Old Forge region for over 25 years. Owner, operator and friend, David Aliasso, purchased Walt's in 2011. David has over 30 years’ experience in the food service industry. Known for its enormous pancakes, giant omelets, chili’s, soups, delicious sandwiches, fresh fish fry’s and mouth watering desserts.

If you are looking to pick up some pizza, wings, subs and an Italian special, Stop by Cugini's Pizzeria on the way up to The Lakehouse. Cugini's is located right on Route 12 in Barneveld, about 15 minutes south of The Lakehouse.

479 NY-28Although a little bit of a drive from The Lakehouse (about 50 minutes north on Route 28 outside Inlet), the Seventh Lake House is a first class restaurant. When I called a local restaurateur in Old Forge, he recommended the Seventh Lake House as the best restaurant in the Old Forge area.

Thrill-seekers can find water-filled adventures at Enchanted Forest Water Safari, the largest water theme park in the state with over 50 rides and attractions. Competitive paddlers should check out the annual 90-mile Adirondack Canoe Classic.
Hikers will love nearby hotspots like Bald Mountain, Nicks Lake Loop Trail, and Gull Lake Trail, and there are plenty of biking routes as well.
Snowmobiling & Skiing:
When winter arrives, Old Forge is a snowmobiler's heaven, with hundreds of miles of groomed trails winding throughout the region and annual events like Snodeo Weekend and SnoFest. Skiers and snowboarders will find McCauley Mountain an enjoyable challenge for all levels. And, make sure to mark you calendar for the incredible Old Forge Winter Carnival!
