Located at the south tip of Pasarichenai beach where we are. Great spot to spend a day surfing and exploring. There is a lot of wildlife. ⚠️DO NOT BATH OR SWIM AT THE LAGOON ⚠️ 🐊 . You can get there either by beach walk ( at least 20 mins) or by wheels through panama road with detour to the wild to and 3 mins walk if you do not encounter a wild 🐘 & 🐊. If you decide to head there at daytime just take water, flippers and sun protection. Heading there by motorbike it’s best and easiest way to get there. Ask Shali for tips and assistance.

Nice surf spot, and there is a small cafe hut but the beach, normally opened in the high season. May to Nov.

This is quite far out, and deeper in the jungle side; a large part of the drive is in a dirt track road. Take water, sun protection, and food provisions if you are to stay for surf.

Surf season
The best time to surf Arugam Bay is between May to October. In fact, this is the time when the weather is great, the offshore wind blows regularly, and the swell is clean and consistent. While July and August produce the biggest swells, on the other months of the surf season you can expect shoulder to head high waves.
The weather in Arugam Bay during this season is always hot and humid. Accordingly, the water here is always warm ((27-28°C). Therefore, no need to bring more than a pair of shorts and few T shirts.

Surf shop rental equipment
Do not just judge the offering solely on price. Be aware of the board conditions, fins , leash, weight overall condition ;too many patches it’s sign the board is probably old, and not balanced right. If you are a beginner, it’s best you rent the soft boards.

Take the essentials…
Many surf points are in remote areas without amenities. Please take plenty of drinking water, hat, sunscreen, slippers a towel and some snacks. Avoid to much sun exposure during mid day and keep hydrated.

Elephants
We all want to see wild elephants and take pictures but be careful, they can be unpredictable. If you see an elephant in your way, keep calm and still; refrain from noise as much as possible, do not attempt to drive his direction until he is out of sight or at a safe distance. If he is trumpeting aggressively just turn around and head opposite direction smoothly. Do not attempt to feed him.

⚠️Be aware of the crocodiles.
Do not bath in majority of the lagoons or sweet water courses in the region, because they might be infested with crocodile. Ask advise to a local first.
