Sunset drinks don't get better than this. Overlooking the Bay, grab a drink at the bar and head out to the balcony for a gorgeous sunset before getting some dinner from the bistro.
If you're after some live music, Captains has local and international bands on a semi-regular basis. Never more than $15 entry with cheap drinks, it is a good night out while on holidays.

This unique museum is a cheap stop for an hour or so. A lovely display of opals and shells with souvenirs to buy.

Mogo is a lovely town with iconic shops and activities. Make sure you get a homemade treat from the icecreamery, see the gorgeous white tigers at the Zoo or pan for gold at the Original Gold Rush Company.

The Acheron Trail through Murramurang National Park offers a number of well-trod fire trails, perfect for walking trips with the family. I walked these trails as a kid, and if you're not scared of steep declines, offers a way to some secluded beaches along the coast. Access in Maloneys Beach from Maloneys Drive.

Maloneys Beach is a child friendly beach with shallow waters, low waves. Located within the Batemans Bay waters, this area is great for spotting fish and rays, as well as dolphins during the spring and summer. The park has free BBQs and you can make friends with the local roos while you're there. Maloneys offers good fishing off the beach, rockpools to explore and snorkelling around the rocks. Growing up there, it's my favourite place in the world - and I'm sure you will love it too.
