A good local Indian restaurant, a bit off the beaten track, serving a variety of meat, fish and vegetarian dishes from South India. The only local place for Masala Dosas, if you like them. We do!

There are a lot of places to eat and drink in Leytonstone, so you have a lot of choice. San Marino's is reasonably priced and serves good, basic meals, including traditional English breakfasts.

Reached via a path that is 3 minutes from our house, this park and woodland is good for walking and a bit of birdwatching. You can buy refreshments at the Tea Hut next to the lakes (30 mins walk)

Wanstead has a few nice restaurants, cafes, pubs and shops. Also, a "Farmers' Market" is held there on the first weekend of each month. It's a 10 minute walk, or one stop on the underground.

Although the Olympics were a few years ago, the area has been developed into parkland, shops and homes and many of the sports facilities are still open. The Olympic pool is open to the public.
