Parks & Nature
The most Photographed location on the Appalachian trail, once you reach the summit you will see why. I would avoid weekends during the fall as trails can be very crowded. I did a sunrise hike and it was amazing and we had the place to ourselves.

Arts & Culture
It is absolutely stunning. Located next to Billys restaurant (they have a wonderful courtyard) and downtown Roanoke. Also check out the Science Museum which is almost across the street. There is a butterfly garden and rooftop views there.

So much civil war history in Lexington, including the gorgeous campus of VMI (Virginia Military Institute, where some of the famous Generals of the Civil war) Lots of museums and you must book ahead if you're planning to dine at the Famous Red Hen, in Lexington, Va.

There is a lot to choose from here, a food court. Barnes and Noble, Ulta, Sephora Victoria secret/pink (2 separate stores) and much more. Panera is there also.

Top of the line and you'll see why. There is a food lion within 2 miles of my home and a Kroger within in 3 miles, but if you want a little "extra" go into the Earth Fare!
