The Hermitage is a nice quite park a few minutes from our location, from the top of the hill you get a great view of downtown Edinburgh, it makes a great picnic spot, and there are plenty of eateries nearby on morningside road for refreshments before or after.

The roof terrace on the 6th floor is a great place to escape the crowds for a few moments and grab a nice view of the city. The museum is a hodgepodge of different exhibits from Dinoasaurs to space rockets, and makes a great way to spend a rainy afternoon, or for some quiet time to or from the city. It's on Bus route #23
