One of only 6 Welsh built castle that remain. This castle was built by the might Llywelyn Fawr ('The Great)') betyween 12010 and 1240. A truly unique mountain which involves some scrambling. Can be walked straight from the A5 opposite Llyn Ogwen ('Lake') but the North Ridge is only suitable for experienced walkers.
