Hola Arepa started out as a food truck - something which, in itself, is a total scene in Minneapolis. They have moved up in the world, however, and the food at this tiny restaurant is delicious.

Homemade pasta. Really, really good. Definitely get a reservation because this place is almost always busy.

The Retro Bar inside the Gay 90s is where I go to dance to Michael Jackson, Prince, Kesha, and Brittney. But tip the DJ well and he'll play anything you want. There's also a whole array of stripper poles to dance on - if that's your thing. :)

And get your picture taken with Prince's star out front. After he died, someone painted his silver star gold. No one knows who - it's still a mystery.

This place has something for everyone - headshop, vinyl records, beautiful clothing, kids' and baby toys, and gift items of all kinds. And did you know Prince shopped here a few days before he died? It was his favorite record store. It should definitely be yours, too.

In Minnesota, our outdoor climbing sucks, but our climbing gyms are rock solid (bahahaha!) VE Bloomington is one of the best gyms in the Midwest if not in the country. If you're not afraid of heights, or even if you are, pop into VE for a day and get a fantastic, fun workout for the whole family. (P.S. Your host is a climbing junkie, and she would happily show you the ropes. Oops, another bad pun. Sorry.)
