Arundel has a castle, lovely countryside, good food with restaurants and cafes plus nice pubs, lots of antique shops, a nice way to spend a day just wandering around, if you like walking Arundel is good for getting up on to The Southdowns

If you get a chance to pop up the road to Bognor just beyond Butlins is Hotham Park, there are 2 car parks, 1 at each end, both pay and display but as well as a putting green, child's play area and a train that runs around the park there is an amazing cafe which serves lovely food, about 6 miles from Littlehampton

Just outside Chichester and near Goodwood Race course and Motor Circuit there is a nice cafe and shop and some lovely walks around the Sussex Countryside

a lovely area of Sussex,a big old house which is open to the public but the grounds are lovely, also an old market town with shops, parking isn't great for the town but there is parking at Petworth House

there are plenty of stores in Littlehampton, a small Sainsbury's pretty much over the road, Lidls and Iceland are in the town as well and a large Tescos about a mile away, plus a Waitrose in Rustington, you won't starve...
