This little-known spot is one of the few restaurants literally on the sand. It's at the end of Seal Beach next to the jetty so you can enjoy the views of the ocean and--on a clear day--you can even see Catalina Island about 26 miles away.

This reptile and amphibian store is great to take younger KIDS because you can purchase food to feed the turtles and huge (24"+) catfish in the store's pond that usually has a monitor lizard perched atop it. There are also giant tortoises to feed. For about $5 you can pay to go into the store's snake section with some that are longer than 10 feet.

For only $5 you can take the Aqualink catamaran from Alamitos Bay Landing (about 10 minutes away) for a 40-minute commute to the Long Beach Aquarium, Downtown Long Beach, Shoreline Village, and Queen Mary. The boats run every 45 minutes beginning at 11 am with the last boat leaving the aquarium at 9:45 pm returning to Alamitos Bay at 10:30 pm. If you're having fun in Downtown Long Beach then just Uber back to Alamitos Bay.
