Quite a drive from the lodge, but if you want to see more of the Lake District head north via Grasmere to Keswick, follow 'Borrowdale signs at Keswick and drive over Honister Pass to Buttermere. Park at the farm, walk around the lake approx 4 miles and return to Keswick via Newlands Pass.
