Cala Coticcio is absolutely stunning. It is a lovely place to swim. The two miniature beaches are now so popular in summer, you will need to pre book an excursion with a local guide or go by boat. This is because the cove is found in a specially protected area on the island of Caprera.

Strada Cala Garibaldi -ArbuticciOne of the prettiest beaches in the archipelago. If you can't get down to Cala Coticcio, Cala Napoletana is very similar and does not disappoint. Cala Napoletana is linked to Punta Galera and Candeo by footpaths, so if you like walking swimming and snorkelling, you can have a great day out here.

It's a favourite with walkers, cyclers, runners and canoeists. Plenty of pit stops to get drinks and panini. You can even dine at the kiosk restaurants. Historical importance is evident with granite lookouts, ex-army barracks, Giuseppe Garibaldi House and Memorial museums.

la Maddalena is a lively well organised town. You could easily spend a week or two here. There are lots of different beaches to go to, several smaller islands in the archipelago to see, walks to do and museums to visit. Some great fish restaurants, Sardinian style restaurants, pizzerias and lots of lovely wine bars. You can usually hear live music and watch events in the main square. I recommend renting a bike or going on a boat trip.
