There is even a free convenient shuttle that stops just outside The Whittaker apt (on Fauntleroy & Alaska) and will take you directly to the pier on Alki Beach in West Seattle to catch the water taxi. Simply hop out and purchase your $5.75 ticket and hop on the next water taxi crossing to the downtown Seattle waterfront.
