Samaria gorge, all day journey, you can go by bus from Chania (bus station KTEL) early in the morning and return by bus from Agia Roumeli (end of Samaria Gorge) late in the afternoon. A lot of walk , magnificent gorge.

Balos is maybe the most famous beach of Crete. You can go there either by car (jeep preferable, a lot of walk needed in order to reach the beach) or by boat which is the easiest way(Cretan daily cruises, tel: 28220 - 22888, Iroon Polytechneiou strt Kissamos)

After reaching the big beach with the hundreds of loudgers keep walking (5 min walk) till the back southwestern side of the small island of Elafonisos. The beach you will reach is really worthwhile. Supplies and umbrellas needed if you plan to spend the day there.
