Chimney Rock itself is a rock monolith you can hike to the top of, or you can take an elevator most of the way up. At the top you’ll find mountain views stretching 75 miles on a clear day. The park also features hiking trails, a waterfall, animal discovery center, and supervised rock climbing adventures.

This is our favorite place to take visitors with young children. There are two sets of waterfalls, a swimming hole, and bountiful wild blueberries in the summer. On the way you’ll enjoy some of the best blue ridge views there are from your car.

Leaf Looking
In Fall, guests flock to Western North Carolina to appreciate the incredible display of changing leaves. You can enjoy the foliage from the BRP or turn left out of the driveway onto 74-A and make your way toward Bat Cave and Lake Lure. Remember that locals use these roads to get where they need to go. Take your sweet time and soak in the magic, but if you notice a line of cars behind you, find a place to pull to the side for a minute and let people go by. Your host city’s citizens will thank you (and get to work on time!).
