Huge Public Park with basketball courts, bike and walking trails, splash pad, swings, disc golf, and fishing. (though i don't recommend eating the fish there). Located within walking distance to the University of Louisiana Lafayette (ULL...Go Cajuns!)

For $2 you can launch your boat from here and do some great fishing. Didn't bring a boat? No worries, they have a road around the entire lake with dedicated spots to fish from the bank or just walk around and scope out the local nature.
