This is now called The Crown at Ampney Brook, fabulously renovated inside. Super warm contemporary Cotswold style, Just down the road toward Cirencester. Also a boutique hotel. Good and varied menu. Slightly more pricey than the Falcon.

Sightseeing
Pretty Cotswold village, famous for the tiny medieval weavers cottages. There is a trout farm there, Arlington Mill for a mooch around, and the Swan Hotel has a nice bar for food and drink. Good walks in and around the village

Park up and walk around the town, we have a stunning huge Medieval parish church, pretty town centre. Walk down Blackjack Street, lots of little shops, Cote Brasserie and little cafes. We have the Corinium Museum, and New BreweryArts, which has an exhibition space, cafe and shop. Good market on Fridays, Farmer’s market alternate Saturdays.

5th century Roman Villa, with an amazing mosaic floor. All Gloucestershire school children have been here at least once! Chedworth is a lovely long Cotswold village too.

Lovely park, for walking in, owned and lived in by the current Earl Bathurst and his wife. There is now a charge for walking in the grounds payable at the entrance.

Considered the southern gateway to the Cotswolds, Burford is a really old Cotswold town. Very beautiful with an ancient medieval bridge. These churchey photos don’t do it justice. Lots of cafes and restaurants. The Burford Garden Company is worth a visit too on the outskirts. Beautiful homeware, a lovely art gallery and big cafe… as well as loads of gorgeous garden stuff!

Great for the kids, my son would have stayed on the little train that runs around the park all day when he was little. (It didn’t run during Covid)

We are so lucky to have this amazing theatre in Cirencester. The quality of their productions is awesome. The Teatro restaurant attached and at the side of the theatre is a lovely restaurant too.
