The island doesn't have many franchises, but we do have a Starbucks! It's a 20 min walk or 3 min drive. It's in a basic shopping center that isn't as charming as walking downtown Winslow to the other coffee shop options.

Amazing beach park with soft sandy beaches (some of our beaches are rocky) and a fun play ground! You can see Mt Rainier (if it's "out") and can pretty much bank on seeing one of the resident bald eagles. There's also some epic fort building opportunities with all the driftwood.

You can see Mt Rainier (if it's "out") and can pretty much bank on seeing one of the resident bald eagles. There's also some epic fort building opportunities with all the driftwood.
This is a 20 min walk from the house or a quick drive. It's a great little walk through the forest to a lovely beach. It's an easy "hike" for little kids that ends with fun beach time! You can watch the ferries come in and out and has a great view of Mt Rainier (when it's "out").

Grand Forest East Entrance
7098 Mandus Olson Rd NEThere's also a West entrance - either is great! This is just the perfect Pacific Northwest forest hike! You can also make your way to Hilltop Meadow that is between both entrances and allows kids to run around freely, climb trees, and even look at neighboring horses.
This is right down the hill from the house and makes a great walk, especially when you add in a stroll along the water right by the preserve.
