The Tarka Trail is a 180 mile walking and cycling trail. From Barnstaple you can head south towards Bideford. Fremington Quay has a lovely cafe and Instow has lots of pubs and cafes and the beach is worth a visit. Heading north, you can cycle to Braunton and stop at Chivenor for a drink at Heanton Court. There is a Tarka Trail guide in The Coach House with advice on each section, where to hire bikes and where to stop for refreshments.

I’ve had very positive feedback from visitors about the farm park. You can cuddle and feed animals and older children can walk an alpaca. Check website gif opening hours.
