XOONG, the newest addition to Auckland’s thriving restaurant hub of Mt Eden Village, not far from Dominion Road, offers diners the best Asian fusion food in Auckland in a series of captivating dining rooms.
Drawing from North East Asian influences, one is immersed into the bold and textural design of the 150 seat restaurant. Over two stories diners will find intimate spaces and secluded dining areas juxtaposed by minimalist Japanese and intricate Chinese designs. Opposite the cocktail bar a canopy of dramatic red lanterns leads you past the open kitchen and chef tables to the courtyard, offering guests a delightful journey of discovery.
China and Japan make strange bedfellows as their tumultuous history would tell us and this dramatic past is the inspiration for the restaurant. Xoong beautifully marries this theme with the ever-popular aromas of a Vietnamese kitchen simultaneously tying the styles together and creating a menu of big flavours that is unmistakably unique. Expect gochujang lamb racks from the wood fired oven, stunning sashimi dishes, and plenty of fresh aromatics from the wok.

One of the best walks in Auckland is Takapuna to Milford Beach, around the rocks, right beside the sea with incredible harbour and island views and bring your togs as there's some nice beaches to swim at along the way.

Buses
I have a hop card for you to use when staying, you can catch the bus very close to my home. Unfortunately, Auckland buses do not accept cash or credit or debit cards.. only the hop card.

We have two bus stops very close to this home. You need to buy a hop card to be able to pay for your ticket. There is a dairy called Hylite ( 525 Great North Road, Grey Lynn, Auckland 1021), which is up the road from the property in the local shops, takes 5 mins to walk there. It's $10 for the card and then you load how much you want on it... You can also catch the bus from outside this store to the city.
To know costs etc, it's $3.78 to get from my home into the city.
You can also pre-buy this if you have time from our airports both domestic and international.

Auckland weather
Our sun is very intensive so burn time is 15 minutes even if you are wearing sunblock, best to cover your skin in our summers.
It's a green country so that means that it has a high rainfall, so bring raincoats with hoodies. I have foldup umbrellas in your rooms, and can assist you with some jackets.

You can walk from my home, about 20 minutes.. it's a larger but older shopping mall with all items you will need. It also has a lot of stores surrounding the mall

Getting to the Supermarket
You can catch the bus or walk.
Pt Chevalier Countdown is the easiest. It's on our street, about 15 minutes walk. Once you have your groceries, you can then catch the bus back to the home..

If you are keen on a great little new adventure, I can so recommend work away, you get to enjoy free accommodation and food in exchange to working 4 hours.. lots of very interesting places all around New Zealand that need a hand, in a garden, in their business, looking after kids, or just an animal, lots of fun adventure.
