This 31-room mansion was built in 1881 and described by the Kansas City Times as "the most princely home and most comfortable home in the entire West." It may be the best example of a Second-Empire style mansion in the US. Museum with reasonable admission fee.

The artist George Caleb Bingham, famous for his print Order Number 11, was living at the estate during the civil war and had his studio in an older log structure. From 1879 to 1979 three generations of the Waggoner family, successful mill operators, called the estate their home and expanded it as their fortunes increased. Museum and event space.
