Food scene
These are just a few of my favorite places to eat - some close to the condo, others just fabulous places to go while in Anchorage. There are many more recommendations that I could give as Anchorage is FILLED with great restaurants.
And as I type, just a few more good restaurants I'm reminded of that are also worth mentioning: Moose's Tooth (great pizza and beer) Bear's Tooth (watch a movie while eating great pizza and beer) and Rustic Goat - just go there. You'll see why I love it.
And if all these restaurant recommendations aren't enough, I have a ton more. Seriously, Anchorage has stepped up it's game in the restaurant department and there are many great and cool places to visit.
Just under a mile away (3 minute drive) is the Peanut Farm, which is a fabulous and large sports bar with a million TV's. The food is also great!

This is just under 2 miles away but a great place for Mexican food. Also the bartenders are fabulous.

Gallo's Mexican Restaurant

Ok this is not super close to my condo but my VERY favorite restaurant in Anchorage. I always eat in the bar as the atmosphere and views are great. They have terrific paintings and the bar just has a great overall feel. EXCELLENT food - you won't be disappointed.
You can sit in the main dining area as well but make sure you call for a reservation.

Simon & Seafort's Saloon & Grill
420 L StreetOk this is not super close to my condo but my VERY favorite restaurant in Anchorage. I always eat in the bar as the atmosphere and views are great. They have terrific paintings and the bar just has a great overall feel. EXCELLENT food - you won't be disappointed.
You can sit in the main dining area as well but make sure you call for a reservation.
There are several breweries in Anchorage that are WELL worth visiting, this just happens to be a favorite of mine. The food is excellent, the atmosphere is fabulous, and the beer is great! Seriously you won't be disappointed.
Also, there is a fine dining restaurant directly next to it called ORSO'S. Also excellent and a favorite of mine as well.

Also, there is a fine dining restaurant directly next to it called ORSO'S. Also excellent and a favorite of mine as well.
This is located at the top of the Captain Cook Hotel in downtown Anchorage off 5th Avenue. The best views of Anchorage are at this restaurant. Plus they make the world's best dirty vodka martini.
Excellent food, excellent service - a great classy restaurant that has been another fine dining favorite of mine forever. Go there for a romantic dinner to watch the sunset.
Also there is Fletchers downstairs in the Captain Cook which is a great pub with excellent food and drink as well.
