The museum was founded in 1863 to preserve the story, history and records of New York State’s military forces and veterans. Since 2001 the collection has been housed in the historic armory in Saratoga Springs. It holds over 10,000 artifacts dating from the Revolutionary War to Desert Storm that relate to NY ’s military forces, the state’s military history and the contributions of New York’s veterans.

For the history trivia buffs this park is where Solomon Northup's life took a dramatic turn and for 12 years he fought for his freedom and to see his home and family once again. He wrote a book about it and it was turned into an award winning movie in 2013.

While I don't golf I have passed this beautiful course many times and it looks to be a popular place for golfers. Located right inside the Saratoga Spa State Park. There is also another course just across the Ave Of The Pines.

If you have your own Kayak this would be a better place to launch into Saratoga Lake. There is more parking. This is right at the end of Fish Creek as it empties into Saratoga Lake. Ive been told it is good for fishing too. Plus there is place to rent motor boats on the other side of the road.
